New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist is going back to the NHL All-Star Game, where the King can show the entire league that he is back and here to stay.

This marks the fourth time that Lundqvist will be playing in the All-Star Game, which will be held this year in Tampa Bay.

Lundqvist is having one of the best seasons of his career at the age of 35. Lundqvist enters this week off with a 19-10-4 record, a .924 save percentage, and 2.52 goals against average. In the month of December alone, Lundqvist had a save percentage of .938 and a 2.19 goals against.

Steven McDonald Remembered

Wednesday marked the one year anniversary of the death of retired New York City police officer and big New York Rangers fan Steven McDonald.

Wednesday marked the one year anniversary of the death of retired New York City police officer and big Ranger fan Steven McDonald.

McDonald was shot and nearly killed back in 1986 but survived and would go on to preach a message of perseverance. In honor of McDonald, the Rangers established the Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award in the 1987-1988 season. Each season the fans vote on which player goes “above and beyond the call of duty on and off the ice

Wednesday the Central Park Precinct honored McDonald by dedicating a plaque the fallen officer who will never be forgotten.

Kevin Hayes Absence won’t be too long

Kevin Hayes was injured in the Rangers 2-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights prior to the start of the team’s bye week. All we were told that it was a lower-body injury and had no update on his timetable.

The Rangers are hoping that Hayes will make a return in the Rangers first game following the bye week Saturday against the New York Islanders. This all depends on whether or not Hayes practices once the team returns from the break.

Hayes’ all-around game has been remarkable this season and his absence is a big one. The team would have to rely on J.T. Miller in the middle if Hayes misses a significant amount of time. The team could also callup rookie Filip Chytil if they didn’t want to move Miller or make a move outside of the organization.
