The New York Jets are officially sticking with Josh McCown for the rest of the season. If that happens, significant history would be made.
Who woulda thunk it?
Jets coach Todd Bowles had been saying this for weeks, but today he was more emphatic: QB Josh McCown will start… https://t.co/LKOLO0MFF3

Before the season there was literally prop bets for how long Josh McCown would last as the starter of the New York Jets. Now head coach Todd Bowles is ready to finally drop to a knee and commit to McCown for the season.
Awe that’s so sweet…
Fun Fact: McCown has never started a full season in his entire 16 years in the league. Thanks to the New York Jets Media Relations Department, McCown shared his thoughts on the potential accomplishment:
On what it would mean to play all 16 games…
“Certainly it’s something that I would like to accomplish, there’s no doubt about it. It’s a one game at a time mentality, but I have a ton of respect for the guys that have played and started for a long time in consecutive games whether it’s (Brett) Favre, or Tom (Brady) or Peyton and Eli (Manning), all those guys. It’s impressive what those guys have been able to do and so for me just to go out, especially at this point in my career, and get 16 games is something to be proud of.”
Did You Know?!
Only 6 players in the @NFL have more rushing TDs than @JoshMcCown12.

Let that one simmer for a second. When you close your eyes and visualize some of the top mobile quarterbacks in the league, it’s hard not to envision a 38-year old Caucasian quarterback on his eighth different team.
Although if McCown starts for the rest of the season that means some interesting history would be made for Jets former second-round pick Christian Hackenberg:
“If Hackenberg doesn’t get off the bench, he’d be only the third quarterback drafted in the first or second round who didn’t play a single snap in his first two seasons. That goes back to the merger in 1970.” — ESPN’s Rich Cimini (Todd Bowles has NO plans to start young QB’s)
Yikes. Although this might’ve bothered me before the season, I could care less now. I’ve got the feels and I’m all about winning, perhaps I should get my head examined. #JetsDanceToAnything
Although very much like Game of Thrones at the Oscars, McCown continues to collect the accolades and nominations this week.

Via ESPN’s Rich Cimini:
“Jets QB Josh McCown has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week. He joins Brett Favre and Ryan Fitzpatrick (two ex-Jets) as the only quarterbacks over the last 15 years to win it with three different teams.”
