Before going to Oklahoma City, Carmelo Anthony believed in July that the New York Knicks were sending him to Houston.

[dropcap]C[/dropcap]armelo Anthony always planned to go to the Houston Rockets. For months he dug in his heels hoping the New York Knicks could work something out. There was even a point this summer when he thought he’d be going there.

Frank Isola of The New York Daily News reports that Anthony told Sirius XM Radio he once thought a “deal was done with Houston”. Anthony thought it would go through in early July.

The ten-time All-Star eventually became so desperate to get out of New York that he approved a trade to the small market Oklahoma City Thunder. Anthony could’ve done a lot worse.

He may not have gotten what he initially wanted — teaming up with his banana boat buddy Chris Paul — but the Thunder have something different. They have a chance to take down the mighty Golden State Warriors.

It took until his 15th season in the NBA, but Carmelo Anthony is finally on a super team. Teaming up with Russell Westbrook and Paul George just makes sense for him right now.
