New York Mets OF Michael Conforto will rest for the next two days with a tight hamstring, as Friday remains his target return date.

The New York Mets‘ hottest hitter, outfielder Michael Conforto, won’t be a part of the lineup at least today and tomorrow, as a tight hamstring has given the team a reason to sit him temporarily.

Jose Reyes will replace Conforto in the leadoff spot for the time being, as the shortstop turned third baseman has brought his average up 16 points over the eight games since the calendar turned to May.

Being that Conforto has reportedly had a hamstring issue for a few days now, the Mets want to be as cautious as possible with their best hitter, with the disabled list having already consumed Yoenis Cespedes, Travis d’Arnaud and Lucas Duda from the lineup.

An Oregon State product, Conforto has been a shining light in the Mets rough 2017 season, as the southpaw has produced a line of .330/.425/.648 — good for a 1.072 OPS — with eight home runs, 21 RBIs and runs scored and just 23 strikeouts to 15 walks over 106 plate appearances.
