The New York Yankees have acquired right-handed pitching prospect Yoiber Marquina from the Cleveland Indians.
On Friday afternoon, the New York Yankees announced that they have acquired 21-year-old right-hander Yoiber Marquina from the Cleveland Indians to complete the December 20, 2016, trade for Nick Goody.
The prospect signed originally as a catcher by Cleveland as an international free agent on July 2, 2012. In 2016, Marquina posted a 3.16 ERA and registered seven saves for Single-A Lake County. He also struck out 43 batters compared to 14 walks but underwent Tommy John Surgery on May 1 of 2017 to operate on a torn Ulnar Collateral Ligament.
Marquina, listed as 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, owns a 6-4 record and a 2.72 ERA in 69 relief appearances over his three-year minor league career.
Goody owned a 4.67 in 34.2 career innings with the Yankees and has not yet given up an earned run in six appearances for the defending American League Champion Indians.
Today @Yankees acquired minor league RHP Yoiber Marquina from CLE to complete 12/20/16 trade of RHP Nick Goody for player to be named later.
