New York Giants safety Landon Collins continues his impressive 2016 campaign, adding a NFC Defensive Player of the month award to his resume.

During what has been a dominant season for New York Giants’ safety Landon Collins, the rest of NFL has taken notice. The Alabama Crimson Tide product has garnered the NFC Defensive Player of the Month award for his play in November. This makes Collins the first safety in the history of the franchise to win the award.

Collins has earned the NFC Defensive Player of the Week (DPOW) award twice this season — once during the month of November. He earned those DPOW honors by notching 12 tackles, one sack, and one interception in a huge Week 9 performance against the rival Philadelphia Eagles.

Throughout the month of November, the sophomore sensation has racked up 30 tackles, one sack, and three interceptions. His breakout season has helped propel the Giants to a six-game winning streak, with a 4-0 record over the past month.

Collins’ electrifying play has put him firmly in the conversation as the league’s top defensive stars. If he keeps up his current pace, it’ll be hard to deny him as one of the top candidates to receive the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award.

2016 has been a huge turnaround for the former second-round pick. As a rookie, Collins was rated the NFL’s 180th best safety by Pro Football Focus (PFF). Just a year later, PFF ranks him as the league’s number one player at the position. The Giants hope this is just the beginning for their rising star.
