If there’s a stranger baseball team in the world or in past years, please, be that fan to step up and point it out.

These 2016 New York Mets continue their strange odyssey through the National League.

Bruised, battered and blowing leads left and right, Jose Reyes and Asdrubal Cabrera played the roles of major heroes tonight for the Amazins.

First, with the Mets trailing by two in the bottom of the 9th-inning, Reyes worked his magic:

Two innings later in the top of the 11th, closer Jeurys Familia gave up a run and the cavalry behind him one as well.

This simply set the stage for the other Blonde Brother. Asdrubal Cabrera, perhaps the Mets most consistent hitter all summer long, hit the most passionate home run of the season:

It was a massive 3-run shot off of Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Edubray Ramos. Michael Conforto started the party by walking and that man again, Reyes, got on ahead of Cabbie with a base knock to left field.

The trio of Reyes, Cabrera and Yoenis Cespedes accounted for seven of the Mets nine runs on the night. Starter Seth Lugo didn’t have his stuff. He could only muster five innings while surrendering three runs.

New York now moves to 81-72, a half-game ahead of both the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals.
