The New York Yankees have announced the date they will honor soon-to-be-retired first baseman, Mark Teixeira.

The New York YankeesPR Department has announced that New York will honor first baseman Mark Teixeira in a pregame ceremony on Sunday, October 2.

The ceremony details are, of course, not available at this moments but it will take place prior to the scheduled 3:05 game against the Baltimore Orioles at Yankee Stadium.

Teixeira, 36, announced his retirement in early August and will call it quits following the 2016 campaign.

The three-time All-Star came to the Bronx in 2009, where he played a crucial role in bringing home the Yankees’ 27th World Championship.

Despite his struggles this season, Teixeira has hit 203 home runs in eight seasons with New York which is tied with the legendary Roger Maris for 15th place in franchise history.
