Retiring Mark Teixeira Overcome With Emotion (Video)

New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira announced that he will retire at the end of the season and promptly delivered a heartfelt address.

Mark Teixeira will say goodbye to baseball following the conclusion of the 2016 campaign. On Friday afternoon, his message at a Yankee Stadium press conference was nothing short of heartfelt.

Primarily thanking his family, he also thanked the fans as he was overcome with the emotion brought about by eight years in the Bronx:

“I gave you everything I had. It wasn’t always enough but I tried my best. I’m proud to have a World Series ring with the Yankees.”

Tex went on to say how he will cherish each of his final at-bats in the bigs, and will try to make the most of his final two months putting on the pinstripes.

Handling the situation in a classy manner, you can expect the 36-year-old to receive exclusively positive attention for the remainder of his time in the show.
