New York Yankees top outfield prospect Aaron Judge will participate in this years’ Triple-A home run derby at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte, North Carolina.

While fans of the New York Yankees await for “Judgement Day” to take place in the Bronx, Aaron Judge will showcase his wrath at the “Harris Teeter and Tide+ Triple-A Baseball Home Run Derby presented by Clariant” next Monday.

Judge, who ranks as Baseball Prospectus’ 18 best prospect, has hit 16 home runs in 81 games with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders this season.

The 6’7″ monster is also coming off a torrid month of June in which he slashed .343/.477/.686 with an OPS of 1.163 and nine home runs. Last season, Judge hit 20 home runs across Double and Triple-A through 124 games so he’s well on pace to smash through his career high.

Judge will compete against former Yankees’ catcher Jesus Montero who has hit nine home runs for Buffalo – the Toronto Blue Jays Triple-A affiliate – this season.

The 26-year-old played 18 games with the Yankees before trading him to the Seattle Mariners in 2012 in exchange for Michael Pineda. New York Mets prospect Travis Taijeron (13 home runs)of Triple-A Las Vegas will also take part in the competition.

According to Lohud Yankees Blog, all participants will each be accompanied by a celebrity captain representing a charity. The charities will each collect $1,000, with the triumphant captain’s foundation to accumulate an added $1,000.

Easily the biggest name in the farm system right now, Judge smashing baseballs out of the yard for fun is not something Yankees’ fans want to miss.
