The Brooklyn Nets are one of the worst teams in the NBA so when they lose it’s not a story. The story is in the way in which they lose. Tonight they lost to the Indiana Pacers, 114-100, in a game that wasn’t as close as the final score. In 22 minutes off the bench, C.J. Miles scored 27 points, helping the Pacers to 58 bench points against the Nets 16.

Other than the small run the Nets made at the end of the third quarter, they didn’t make any threats to the Pacers firm stranglehold on the lead. Despite poor outings from superstar Paul George and instant offense combo-guard Monta Ellis, Indiana was still able to blow Brooklyn right off their home court.

Brook Lopez had a forgettable 21 points, while a rare good shooting performance from Joe Johnson was wasted due to the pathetic performance from the Nets’ bench. Thomas Robinson was minus-11 in just 10 minutes of action, with Bojan Bogdanovic being the only bench player to even attempt more than four shots.

Thaddeus Young showed up to play, and played hard as always posting a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Arguably the Nets most consistent player, Young is perfect trade bait for a team that is going nowhere fast despite the foolish thinking of ownership and management.

As a team, the Nets play like a squad that has an interim coach at the helm with nothing to gain. Many players on their roster are competing for new contracts with other teams next season. This season is over in Brooklyn, and tonight was a perfect example of that.
