Break out your Chewbacca costume, drape yourself in Darth Vader black (sure to see plenty of those), and line up your little Stormtroopers cause it’s Star Wars Night at the Prudential Center tonight, as the New Jersey Devils play host to the Atlantic Division’s Detroit Red Wings.
Even though the opening of the new Star Wars Movie doesn’t open for another week, that’s not preventing the team from having their own fun as the Force Awakens.

It’s taken hold of the team’s official twitter account, @NHLDevils, this week by sending out Star Wars-related tweets promoting the game:

Note in the poster how the stars of the movie have a uncanny resemblance to members of the Devils team. Oh wait, they are. Master Yoda might have this to say upon seeing that:
“Creative you are, photoshop you used.”
However, at the heart of it all, there is a game to be played, and an important one at that.
The Devils will be juggling their lines with both Travis Zajac and Adam Henrique out of the lineup, due to injuries. Yesterday in practice, head coach John Hynes mixed and matched players to help fill the voids left on his first two scoring lines.

We shall see tonight what he has planned when the team takes the ice in this pivotal matchup.
The Red Wings are coming off an impressive 3-2 win over the Eastern Conference leading Montreal Canadiens. They are currently on a 12-game point streak, 4-0-1 in their past five, and undefeated in regulation during their streak.
However, the Devils are not looking to be the Red Wings “13th” victim. Instead, the team would rather make it unlucky and deny Detroit any points, putting an end to their impressive run.
There’s nothing like playing spoiler in your home building, and New Jersey has that opportunity.
To get you ready for tonight’s game, here’s a little Lego battle to get you in the mood. Cue the John Williams’ song Duel of the Fates from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
