New York Mets

Although the New York Mets couldn’t get out of their own way on this most recent homestand, the Baltimore Orioles picked them up a bit.

Over the last week or so, the New York Mets have not played good baseball. Even worse, they finished a nine-game homestand with a 3-6 record.

Fortunately, the Mets have gotten help from another orange ladened team. That would be the Baltimore Orioles, who beat the Washington Nationals again on the road.

So despite the Mets losing the last two to the lowly Atlanta Braves at Citi Field, with the O’s beating the Nats twice most recently, the Mets are still left with a 6.5 game lead and lowered their magic number to five with a little more than a week left in the regular season.

Getting help from the Nationals opponents is great, but the Mets have to play much better than they have in this homestand in order to make noise in the playoffs, especially their offense and their bullpen which has carried them a lot during their strong play in August and early September.

These days, it seems the hottest team down the stretch always winds up winning championships. Even if the Mets hang on and clinch the playoffs, it would definitely be more helpful if they finished the regular season strong and perhaps bring that momentum in October.

Other than God, sports are my biggest love. My teams are the Mets, Knicks, NY Giants, NY Rangers and St Johns basketball (St. John's alumni). I especially love the Mets like crazy, more than any other team and seeing them win the World Series would be a dream come true and definitely the best sports moment. The Knicks are a close second. I also like to write, so combine that with my passion for sports equals a perfect scenario, I would love to do sports writing long term. If not that, then probably sports broadcasting, cause I love to talk sports as well. In addition to writing for ESNY, I'm also currently writing for Metsmerizedonline.
