For the second straight season the good folks at EA Sports are sullying their good name with a ridiculous ‘Madden NFL 16’ movie trailer.
By Robby Sabo
We get it. The point of these supposedly hilarious Madden NFL 16 movie trailers is to have a good time. To enter the world of comedy, I suppose.
It turns out the joke’s on them because not one part of the trailer was funny. Literally.
Madden 15’s edition featured Kevin Hart as a dancing fool. Madden 16’s employs a wide variety of characters.
We have actors Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse; players Julio Jones, Colin Kaepernick, Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski; and finally Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan (who’ll obviously do anything to get in front of the camera these days).
The plot revolves around Franco’s character needing to play a game of Madden 16 against an evil villain who has held his girlfriend captive.
The trailer features about seven seconds of gameplay and no word on what’s new in this season’s version. If EA Sports mission is to appeal to the immature and the “less than intelligent” over the past two seasons, mission accomplished.
Where’s word on the new features; the new thoughts; the things we can be excited about when popping in the disc?
I could care less about seeing Gronkowski with half a shirt on and Kaepernick acting entirely more adequate than he does throw footballs.
This might be the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Additionally, based purely on this trailer, they have already lost at least one sale.
