In extra innings at Yankee Stadium on Friday night, Toronto Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista blasts a solo shot to beat the Yankees 2-1.

Just as we mentioned in the pregame, combining the top two scoring teams in all of Major League Baseball would probably result in a low scoring series.
Go figure. That’s exactly what transpired on Friday night as the Toronto Blue Jays took one more step closer to catching the New York Yankees in the AL East.
It was Toronto slugger Jose Bautista who sent a moon-shot into the left-field stands in the top of the 10th inning which propelled the Jays to the 2-1 win.

After only throwing six pitches in the bottom of the ninth, Joe Girardi mysteriously gave closer Andrew Miller the hook. This brought Branden Pinder into the game and the eventual pitch that Bautista feasted on.
Despite the low feeling to end the game, New York has gotta feel good about Nate Eovaldi’s performance. Going 6.1 he only allowed a single run and five hits.

The lone run for the Yanks came from Mark Teixeira’s 30th blast of the season in the second-inning.
Both clubs will get right back at it tomorrow afternoon. The lead is now down to just 3.5 games.
