With all the craziness of the night belonging in Flushing, the New York Yankees quietly fell to the Texas Rangers by a final of 5-2.
To be frank, it was quite the night in New York City on Wednesday.
Down in Flushing, fans of the New York Mets found themselves in a frenzied state upon hearing that Carlos Gomez was coming back to town, only to have it washed away by Sandy Alderson’s words shortly thereafter.
Perhaps Wilmer Flores was the only guy happy to hear the non-trade news.
Meanwhile, the New York Yankees suffered the all-time quietest 5-2 loss in Arlington against the Texas Rangers.

Strangely enough, the Rangers were going through some trade rumors of their own as they played on against the Yanks. Fox Sports’ John Morosi announced that they’ve landed Phillies ace Cole Hamels.

Getting back to the game, Masahiro Tanaka failed to pickup his fourth straight victory. He allowed four runs on nine hits in six innings while picking up his fourth loss of the season.
New York remains 6.5 games up on second place Baltimore.

Both teams will be back at it tomorrow night with Texas looking to earn the split.
