New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. decides to skip the OTAs to help Johnny Manziel with his NFL comeback attempt.
We now know why Odell Beckham Jr. was absent from the first two days of the New York Giants OTAs. He was hanging with Johnny Manziel.
No, they weren’t hanging out at the club. Beckham was helping Manziel with his attempt at an NFL comeback. According to TMZ, Odell and a couple other receiver participated in passing drills with Manziel. Johnny Football reportedly performed well in the drills.
The Giants receiver has supposedly told the Giants that he would be at the team’s OTA on Thursday, Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reports. Last month, the Giants picked up the receivers fifth-year option and he promised to work harder than ever before. Recently Odell signed a deal with Nike. The deal is for five years and is worth about $5 million a year, making it the richest shoe deal ever for an NFL player, according to Darren Rovell of ESPN.
Johnny Football was released by the Cleveland Browns after the 2015 season after multiple off-the-field incidents. He has said that he is committed to the comeback since he had very little success with the Browns.
Beckham working out with Manziel begs the question if the Giants would be interested in signing Manziel. If the Giants were interested in signing Manziel, then it might not be a good idea given his past history.
