In his final game as a major league baseball player, the New York Yankees have honored first baseman Mark Teixeira with a neat retirement ceremony.
Mark Teixeira will certainly be missed by the New York Yankees organization.
His 206 home runs during his eight-year career in pinstripes ranks 13th in franchise history while his three gold glove awards and countless errors saved will never go unnoticed.
Rightfully so, the Yankees honored the first baseman on Sunday afternoon, before his last game in the show.
Although the crowd was small, New York brought out CC Sabathia, Brett Gardner, and members of the Harlem RBI Program to join Hal Steinbrenner in presenting Teixeira with a few retirement gifts.
The 14-year veteran was presented with a base signed by all of his current teammates and his number 25 pinstriped jersey placed in a beautiful wooden frame.
Simple, yes, but a terrific way to say goodbye to one of the best first baseman to sport navy blue pinstripes.
