John Tavares‘s New York Islanders came out very flat one of the biggest games of the season against the Philadelphia Flyers.
- New York Islanders 1 (38-24-9)
- Philadelphia Flyers 4 (35-24-12)
- NHL, Final, Box Score
- Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York
In the biggest game of the season, on the same night the dreaded New York Rangers defeated the Florida Panthers at Madison Square Garden, John Tavares and his New York Islanders laid a big fat egg.
At Barclays Center on Monday night, it as all Claude Giroux and the Philadelphia Flyers, taking the game by a final of 4-1.
It was Brandon Manning who tallied his first career NHL goal midway through the second period that snapped a 1-1 tie, and the Flyers never looked back once.
The other goal scorers on the night were Nick Cousins, Sam Gagne and Claude Giroux (empty net).
For New York, Kyle Okposo was the only Islander to light the lamp.
3 Stars of the Game:
- Manning (Flyers – D): Goals: 1, Assists: 0
- Mason (Flyers – G): Saves: 23, Save Pct.: 0.958
- Okposo (Islanders – RW): Goals: 1, Assists: 0
