New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley doesn’t agree with the idea of him sitting out for the remainder of the season.

Saquon Barkley hasn’t looked himself as of late. The sensational New York Giants running back gained just one rushing yard on 13 carries in the loss to the New York Jets this past Sunday. It brings up the idea that maybe Barkley is still banged up from the previous high ankle sprain that sidelined him for three weeks.

Thus, a discussion has arisen about the possibility of shutting Barkley down for the rest of the season. If he doesn’t seem himself, then why even risk further injury at a record of 2-8? Individuals are probably going back and forth on this conversation as we speak, and one person who doesn’t agree with him sitting out is Barkley himself.

“The mindset of sitting me out and resting me for the rest of the season is beyond me,” Barkley said Tuesday. “I do not agree with it. It won’t happen. I’m going to keep going until I can’t go anymore. That’s the player that I am and I’m going to do that for my teammates.”

“Yes, I do feel like myself,” he added. I would love to be going for 100 yards every game, I would love to be doing the things I was doing last year. Trust me, I don’t like the fact that I was only able to have one yard against a great team, respect to them…to say that I’m not healthy or this, that, and the third, those are just excuses.

“Everyone’s banged up, everyone’s going through something and I’m not going to let that be the excuse for why I’m not having a successful season. The reason I’m not having a successful season is because I’m not making enough plays for my team.”

Last year, Barkley averaged 5.0 yards-per-carry and scored 15 total touchdowns (11 rushing, four receiving). This year, he’s averaging just 4.0 yards-per-carry with two rushing touchdowns and one score through the air. You can contribute the offensive line play to his struggles as well. The “revamped” O-Line is already on pace to be statistically worse than last year’s.

Barkley hasn’t rushed for 100 yards in a game since Week 2, when he gained 107 yards and scored a touchdown in a loss to the Buffalo Bills.
