New York Giants QB Daniel Jones’ return to Duke yields excitement (Video)

New York Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones pays a visit to his old college team, receiving great excitement in the locker room.

Daniel Jones, considering he and the New York Giants played on Thursday night, had a weekend off. Why not pay a visit to your alma mater and see some of your old teammates?

Well, that’s exactly what Big Blue’s rookie quarterback did.

To help Duke University celebrate their 41-23 victory over Georgia Tech, Jones strolled into the locker room. He was thus met with great excitement from his former college team.

Jones was a member of the Blue Devils from 2015-18 and was drafted No. 6 overall by the Giants this past April.

It was indeed homecoming weekend for Duke, therefore, perfect timing for Jones to have the Saturday off from preparing for a game. With the win, Duke has improved to 4-2 on the season, with victories over Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Middle Tennessee and North Carolina A&T.

Jones played 36 games for Duke across his collegiate career. In that span, he completed 59.9% of his throws for 8,201 yards, 52 touchdowns and 29 interceptions.

The 22-year-old has now started four games for the Giants since his promotion to first-string quarterback prior to Week 3. He’s completed 60.7% of his throws this season for 921 yards, five touchdowns, and six interceptions. This includes the four starts and the performance in Week 1 where he went 3-for-4 for 17 yards in a loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Jones and the Giants are heading into a Week 7 home matchup with the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday afternoon.
