It may not be the signing of Giancarlo Stanton, but the New York Yankees decided to make some moves yesterday in preparation for the regular season.
Remember how yesterday we mentioned that things were pretty quiet for the New York Yankees yesterday? Yeah, that didn’t last long.
It was announced Friday that the Yankees have signed former Atlanta Braves utilityman Jace Peterson to a minor league deal.

Just days after the Yankees determined they were happy with what they had, they signed on another minor leaguer to serve as a backup in case these rookies can’t handle the heat.
Peterson, a 27-year-old Louisiana native, has experience in the majors but didn’t excel by any means. Peterson played in 89 games for the Braves last season, posting a .215/.318/.317 line.
Apparently bigger moves might be on the way though, as Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reported that the Yankees reached out once again to the Orioles in regards to coveted third baseman Manny Machado.
While it doesn’t necessarily mean anything right now, it’s still enough to get Yankees fans excited. Plus, Machado is garnering interest from several different teams so don’t get too hyped up.

If you thought of any other bird in reference to Bird Day, you are sadly mistaken. Fans all over Twitter were sharing videos of his various highlights, especially his bomb against Andrew Miller in the playoffs.
However, that video gets shared pretty much every single day and, truthfully, I don’t hate it. It just makes the offseason that much more bearable for all of us.
The good news is the season is right around the corner. The bad news? It’s not close enough, as the Yankees and every other major league baseball team reminded us on Twitter today.
