The final of 2-1 in favor of the Cleveland Indians doesn’t just mean the New York Yankees fifth straight loss, it now means second place.

Yeah. It’s officially that time for New York Yankees fans to panic.
With their most recent loss coming Wednesday night, 2-1 at the hands of the Cleveland Indians, Joe Girardi’s club is now staring up at the scorching hot Toronto Blue Jays. The Jays, after polishing off the hapless Oakland Athletics 10-3, have now won 10 straight games and feel the fruits of a 1/2 game lead in the AL East.
For the Yanks it was much of the same dread they’ve been dishing out to fans lately. Pretty solid pitching with absolutely no bats.

With loss to Indians tonight, Yankees are no longer in 1st place in AL East. NY had a 6 game lead just 10 days ago. pic.twitter.com/6cQfcxylHs — SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) August 13, 2015

C.C. Sabathia received the start and pitched yet another workmanlike game. He surrendered just two runs while scattering nine hits over six innings of work.

Unfortunately for the Bombers, Danny Salazar was just a bit better. His only blemish all night came on a Brian McCann solo shot in the second inning. New York could only muster four hits the entire game.

If anybody didn’t believe the old saying that a knuckleballer can quickly place a lineup in its place, they do now. Since facing Boston Red Sox knuckleballer last Wednesday, the second most powerful lineup in all of MLB has only plated 10 runs in seven games. This, after a ridiculous streak which saw them score 90 runs in 10 games.
In fact, they could be feeling the effects of a duel knuckleballer situation, as don’t forget, R.A. Dickey also shut them down a little after Wright did.
Or maybe, Brian Cashman’s seriously veteran-heavy club is now feeling the effects in the last third of the season.
In any event, after five straight losses they now stare up at the Blue Jays, a team who feels energized after the acquisitions of Troy Tulowitzi and David Price.
New York will once again look to get back on the winning side of things tomorrow night in Cleveland.
