New York Jets tight end Chris Herndon, running back Le’Veon Bell both expected to suit up this Sunday afternoon against the New York Giants.

It looks like the New York Jets will be able to suit up a few of their previously-banged-up offensive weapons this Sunday.

According to Eric Allen of the Jets official website, both tight end Chris Herndon and running back Le’Veon Bell are expected to play against the New York Giants.

Herndon has yet to play a game this season. The league suspended him for the first four games of the year for violating the substance policy. He’s additionally been battling a lingering hamstring injury.

Bell, on the other hand, went for an MRI on an apparent knee injury sustained in last Sunday’s loss to the Miami Dolphins. No structural damage was found, and it was concluded that Bell was just dealing with soreness.

Herndon is a second-year tight end who caught 39 balls for 502 yards and four touchdowns through 16 games (four starts) in his rookie campaign. In his absence, the Jets have fielded Ryan Griffin at the starting tight end spot. Griffin, a seven-year pro, has caught 19 balls for 162 yards and three scores thus far on the season.

Bell has somewhat struggled since coming over to the Jets. Through eight games, he’s averaging just 3.3 yards-per-carry with one rushing touchdown.

The 1-7 Jets will face the 2-7 Giants this Sunday afternoon in the crosstown rivalry game that only occurs once every four years. The two struggling ballclubs will kick off at 1:00 p.m. ET.
