New York Giants tight end Evan Engram has been diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain and will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis.

The New York Giants are dealing with an unfortunate injury to a key contributor on offense.

Per Art Stapleton of USA Today, Evan Engram has been diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain. Engram suffered the injury during Monday night’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys. He’s currently in a walking boot and will be evaluated on a “day-to-day, week-to-week” basis.

Engram already missed one matchup this year. The Giants ruled him out for their Week 6 loss to the New England Patriots. The third-year pro was dealing with an MCL sprain at the time and was one of the multiple weapons who missed that game. Saquon Barkley, Sterling Shepard, and Wayne Gallman were also dealing with setbacks.

If Engram isn’t good to go for the team’s upcoming matchup with the New York Jets, the Giants will rely on tight ends Rhett Ellison and Kaden Smith to fill the void. However, neither have the same versatile playstyle that Engram possesses.

Through eight games in 2019, Engram has caught 44 balls for 467 yards and three touchdowns. His most productive game came in the Week 1 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. In that matchup, Engram caught 11 balls on 14 targets for 116 yards and a touchdown.

After the most recent loss to Dallas, the Giants have dropped to 2-7 and sit in third place in the NFC East division. They’ll kick off against the 1-7 Jets this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.
