New York Giants veteran wide receiver Cody Latimer catches a one-yard touchdown pass from Daniel Jones to give Big Blue the lead.

After a 3-3 stalemate, the New York Giants have taken the lead in their Week 9 “Monday Night Football” matchup with the Dallas Cowboys.

On a 3rd & Goal from the one-yard line, Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones lofted a pass into the back right corner of the end zone. Veteran wideout Cody Latimer portrayed great vision in order to locate the ball and snag it for the Giants touchdown. It’s Latimer’s fourth touchdown reception of the season and Jones’ 11th touchdown pass of his rookie campaign.

The ensuing extra point attempt by Aldrick Rosas hit off the right upright. Thus, the Giants have a 9-3 lead in the second quarter of this NFC East showdown.

On the Cowboys offensive possession thereafter, safety Jabrill Peppers forced a fumble of Dallas wideout Randall Cobb. The loose ball was then recovered by safety Antoine Bethea, who had an interception on the opening play of the game.

The Giants entered this game at 2-6, sitting in third place in the NFC East division. The only team with a worse record than them is the Washington Redskins, who are 1-8 after a loss to the Buffalo Bills this past weekend.

The Cowboys are at the top of the division at 4-3. They’re currently in a battle with the Philadelphia Eagles for a consistent stay at the top of the division. The Eagles are 5-4 after a victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
