The father of New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso just couldn’t help himself with SNY’s Steve Gelbs, giving us the LFGM.
Poppa Polar Bear just couldn’t help himself.
Interviewed by SNY’s Steve Gelbs on Saturday, New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso’s father proved the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.

“One other thing … LFGM. I had to say that for Pete,” the elder Alonso proclaimed.
Unfortunately, the younger Alonso’s club couldn’t get it done on the field. A 3-2 loss at the hands of the Cincinnati Reds has put a dent in any miracle that would be a 2019 NL Wild Card appearance.
The Reds picked up two quick runs on starter Zack Wheeler in the bottom of the first. Despite the Mets battling back to tie things up, courtesy of Brandon Nimmo and Wheeler runs batted in, the Reds plated the game-winning score in the eighth off lefty Justin Wilson.
Sitting with a record of 80-74, the New York Mets will finish the set with the Reds Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET from Cincinnati.
