New York Liberty center Amanda Zahui B. fills ESNY’s Lauren Russell in on what makes her and her squad get it done on the hardwood.

The New York Liberty are looking to make a playoff push heading into the second half of the season. The team is currently two games back of the eighth and final WNBA playoff spot.

With 13 games remaining on the Liberty schedule (and seven of those at home), a return to the playoffs for the first time since 2017 can become a reality.

On Sunday, when asked what the biggest thing the team needs to execute on to make a successful playoff push, Amanda Zahui B. responded with the key that allows her to get it done on the hardwood.

“Play together, play together and never give up,” Zahui B. said. “We are constantly building and getting better, and as long as we stay together were gonna rock out.”

Although the Liberty are only two games out of a playoff spot, the team is 0-2 since the All-Star break. Most recently, on Sunday, they fell to the Connecticut Sun, 94-79.

“Right now, we tell them every day, every day is a playoff game, basically. We’re all kind of fighting for those spots and it’s going to go down to the wire,” Coach Katie Smith told reporters after the hard-fought contest.

So, what’s the mentality of this Liberty squad going forward?

“We need to stick to the game plan, we need to know what our role is and do it well, and bring it every single game,” Rebecca Allen stated.

On Wednesday night, the New York Liberty have the opportunity to get their first win of the second half and ignite their playoff push when they visit Chicago to take on the Sky. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. ET.
