The New York Giants have added Sam Beal, rookie Mark McLaurin, and rookie George Asafo-Adjei to the injury list.
It’s only been a week thus far for the New York Giants in the training camp period and injuries are already plaguing them.
On Sunday, the team announced that cornerback Sam Beal, rookie linebacker Mark McLaurin, and rookie tackle George Asafo-Adjei have been added to the injury list. Beal is dealing with groin/hamstring issues, McLaurin has a fractured foot, and Asafo-Adjei is dealing with a concussion.
Beal is working on competing for the starting cornerback job. With Janoris Jenkins most likely retaining the strongside corner spot, Beal will compete with rookies DeAndre Baker and Julian Love for the weakside corner spot. Beal is in his second year with the Giants. He missed the entire preseason and regular season last year, as he sustained a season-ending shoulder injury in July.
The Giants selected Beal in the third round of the 2018 NFL Supplemental Draft out of Western Michigan University.
McLaurin is an undrafted free agent out of Mississippi State. His fractured foot stems from getting stepped on during Saturday’s practice. He had 74 total tackles, 4.5 tackles-for-loss, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble, and four passes defended during his senior year in 2018.
The Giants selected Asafo-Adjei in the seventh round (No. 232 overall) in this year’s NFL Draft out of the University of Kentucky. Asafo-Adjei is working with additional offensive tackles Nate Solder, Chad Wheeler, and Mike Remmers. Big Blue has placed him in the concussion protocol until further notice.
