O.J. Simpson … not a jew. But guess who is? Hockey phenom Jack Hughes. (He didn’t convert.)

In fact, the New Jersey Devils newest young stud became the first Jewish-born hockey player to be selected first overall in the NHL Entry Draft this past weekend in Vancouver.

It recently came full circle when the kid met the one and only Adam Sandler at Yankee Stadium.

Hughes, 18, was quickly snatched up by the Devils, one spot ahead of the New York Rangers selecting Finnish forward Kaapo Kakko.

Born in Orlando, FL, Hughes led an amazing American charge at the draft. He was the first of nine Americans selected in the first round and five who heard their names called out in the top 15.

Last season with the United States under 18 national team, Hughes tallied an incredible 34 goals and 78 assists in just 50 games played.

He’ll join a talented group in Newark consisting of Nico Hischier, Pavel Zacha, Taylor Hall and newcomer P.K. Subban.

At times, Sandler’s New York sports team allegiance has been questioned. We always thought of him as a New York Jets fan, but hopping on the Giants bandwagon at times raises eyebrows.

Nonetheless, we still believe he’s a Rangers fan. Perhaps young Jack Hughes will have the Adam Sandler fandom detractors out in full force yet again in the coming years.

Broadway or Newark? Kappo or Hughes? It sure is easier to slip “Hughes” into a Sandler tune.
