Spencer Dinwiddie took to Twitter to stir the pot in the rivalry between the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets.

There hasn’t been much of a rivalry between the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets in recent years. However, Spencer Dinwiddie is stoking the flames and incurring the wrath of Knicks fans on Twitter.

It started with Dinwiddie changing his profile picture to a photo of him dunking in Madison Square Garden.

The Nets have bragging rights as of now. The Knicks were the worst team in the NBA and the Nets overachieved their way into the playoffs.

But the power dynamic between New York’s basketball teams could shift dramatically this summer. One fan reminded Dinwiddie that the Knicks are going to sign Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving during the offseason.

No one actually knows what’s going to happen this summer, but Dinwiddie still thinks the Nets will be better than the Knicks plus Durant and Irving.

Dinwiddie is a master at antagonizing Knicks fans. This is a callback to Dinwiddie proclaiming the Nets the “best team in New York” last summer. Knicks fans had a field day with that comment. Of course, Dinwiddie backed up his talk on the court.

But a Knicks squad with Durant and Irving would be a much different story. However, in that scenario, the Nets could still acquire another one of the star free agents like Kawhi Leonard or Jimmy Butler. That’s a hypothetical in which Brooklyn and New York would both be contenders in the Eastern Conference.

That being said, no one has any idea how free agency is going to play out. The only thing we do know is that Dinwiddie understands how to rile up Knicks fans and it’s always entertaining.
