Manny Machado is one of baseball’s biggest free agents and New York Yankee fans are stepping up to their game to sign the infielder.

After the Boston Red Sox won the 2018 World Series, New York Yankee fans want the Bombers to make some kind of big splash in 2019 free agency and that could mean signing superstar Manny Machado.

Now, 10 years ago that wouldn’t be a problem but now the Bronx Bombers seem to be hesitant to open the checkbook and NJ.com reporter Brendan Kuty mentioned a way fans could get the guy they so desperately want — GoFundMe.

Well, guess what Brendan, someone did.

The page so far has raised $127 with a goal of reaching $300 million. It has seen 26 fans make donations, but none higher than $20. If New York does not sign Machado, the page creator Joshua Anderson from Belton, MO says he will donate all funds to the Coalition for the Homeless in New York City so either way, the money won’t go to waste.

Let’s face it, the Yankees take enough money from their fans when it comes to ticket prices, concessions, and merchandise so it really should not be a surprise at the lack of donations at this point.

Machado is expected to make a decision within the upcoming week, and reports have surfaced that New York has yet to make a formal offer. The White Sox and Phillies are all in, but you don’t see fans taking matters into their own hands like this.

While the debate to sign Machado is a good one in Yankee universe, the fans who want the 26-year-old in Pinstripes have not only talked the talk, but they’ve now walked the walk.

Now it’s your move, Brian Cashman and Hal Steinbrenner.
