Get ready to stand and jeer. The New York Yankees offer to Manny Machado may not match the Philadephia Phillies, Chicago White Sox efforts.

The headline alone has the Bronx up in arms.

Despite the few and far between who remain steadfast in the effort to deny Manny Machado as a good idea, the overwhelming majority of New York Yankees fandom is foaming at the mouth for the young stud infielder.

Bad news has hit the wire on Monday (for the vast majority).

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, Brian Cashman’s club may not come close to touching the type of money the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago White Sox have each offered.

“The Yankees are either playing it coy, trying to gauge the Andujar trade market, or simply have no intention of offering Manny Machado a $200 million-plus contract. The Chicago White Sox and Philadelphia Phillies remain the most aggressive teams for the prized infielder.”

Allow the craziness to commence.

First of all, keep these words within a proper perspective. Nightengale isn’t reporting the lower-money offer as actuality. He’s simply mentioning is as a thought of many probabilities.

Machado, 26, represents the candy of the Yankee fan’s sweet tooth. It’s remained this way since his name first appeared as a free agent of interest for the 27-time World Series champs.

In 2018, splitting time between his home-grown Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Dodgers, the left-sided infielder clubbed 37 homers with 137 runs batted in to go along with a solid .297 batting average.

Since meeting with all three clubs prior to the new year, Machado and his camp have taken their sweet time in deciding on a future. The news of a far lesser Yankee offer, arguably, puts the puzzle pieces in place.

Certain reports have surfaced claiming the kid wants the Bronx. If true, and Cashman went low on the offer, the decision-making process becomes extraordinarily cloudy—hence the long waiting-room process.

Old-reliable Jon Heyman of Fancred recently reported that the Bombers remain the favorites.

“Yankees are working on pen as they await word on Machado. Chisox and Phillies also waiting. No team is believed at 300M. If all are in 200-250 range and that’s possible (perhaps Philly is a little higher, tho that is unknown), fwiw most around game still believe Machado picks NYY.”

Regardless of the Machado decision, there will be flocks of New York Yankees fans upset with the decision to offer far less than the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago White Sox.

Until Manny Machado decides, keep that warm seat reserved at that annoying, blood-boiling hot stove doctor’s office.
