After snow took out both Big Apple baseball games on Monday, starting pitcher Matt Harvey decided to get his 2018 campaign started right on Tuesday.

The artist formerly known as The Dark Knight allowed no runs on one hit and one walk while striking out five in just five innings and 86 pitches while leading his New York Mets to a solid 2-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.

It was a straight-up good-old-fashioned pitchers’ duel for much of the evening. Harvey was firing blanks against Phillies starter Ben Lively who went 5.2 while striking out five and finally giving up two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, the only half-inning that featured scoring.

Todd Frazier was that man who doubled in Yoenis Cespedes, giving the Mets the only run necessary. Travis d’Arnaud followed it up with another RBI hit, knocking in Frazier himself.

Lively, who pitched wonderfully for the most part, turned out to be the hard-luck loser. Jeremy Blevins picked up the win while recording just one out.

The Mets bullpen was again stellar. The Mets No. 5 starter, Seth Lugo, who was supposed to pitch on Tuesday, saw action out of Mickey Callaway‘s pen and pitched two perfect innings while striking out four with that stellar spin rate of his. Though it was rocky, Jeurys Familia picked up the one-inning save, his second of the new season.

All told, the game saw just 10 hits, seven from the Mets. Batting out of the cleanup spot, Frazier collected two of those hits. Jay Bruce, Asdrubal Cabrera, Adrian Gonzalez, d’Arnaud and Harvey, himself, all picked up one knock apiece.

Next up for the Metropolitans will be these very same Phillies on Wednesday afternoon. Noah Syndergaard is back to the mound ready to take on Aaron Nola.
