The New York Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox last season. Let’s see what David Ortiz has to say about the super-powered squad heading into 2018.

Ah, the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox have a rivalry that transcends time. Every year, we look forward to another emotionally draining yet highly entertaining battle between these two successful squads.

One of the main fixtures in the battle in the past has been David Ortiz, the portly designated hitter who Yankees fans loved to hate in public and dared to respect in the shadows. Well, Ortiz has nothing but nice things to say about the enemy team.

Ortiz spoke to Nicole Yang of Boston.com to share some insight onto this season. Besides discussing the idea of Opening Day being a holiday (hint, he’s on board), he also talked about just how powerful this Yankees team is.

“They pretty much stacked the lineup with more power,” Ortiz told Yang of Boston.com. “I don’t think anyone in the division can compete with that.”

Well, he isn’t wrong. But do the Yankees really want to be favored? We shall see.

But that wasn’t all David Ortiz said in the last week. I know what you’re thinking, this isn’t the Ortiz Buzz…it’s the Yankees Buzz. However, you’ll want to hear this.

Ortiz spoke to Sports Illustrated about his foes and had some positive things to say about Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton. Mainly that he would compare those two to himself and Manny Ramirez from back in the day.

But enough on Ortiz…let’s focus on the Bash Brothers and how they’re already impacting the Bronx.

Thanks to the strong and spectacular duo of Stanton and Judge, we get to go into the park even earlier to witness some greatness before the game even starts. We know they’ve been doing it in spring training but that did not yet translate over to the regular season, except during block parties.

Now with REAL Yankees baseball less than a week away, we can officially get excited. After all, this is our Christmas and we can’t wait for it to all begin.
