Folks, it just doesn’t get much better than the Carmelo Anthony workout tape in the middle of the night in the middle of Manhattan.
That’s right ladies and gents, he’s one of the people. New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony doesn’t care about the noise around him. He simply gets to work.
Or, at least that’s the perception he tries to provide.
By now, you’ve already seen the hilarious workout video of Melo “getting it done” in the middle of the night somewhere in the middle of Manhattan. It’s almost too perfect. It’s a marketing scheme gone completely hilarious.
Oh, Melo, stop worrying about your brand.
This is the very same video some are blasting Steve Mills and Clarence Gaines are laughing at during an NBA Summer League game:
#Knicks front office is still anti-Melo.

We can’t go there and start accusing the duo of laughing at their $20-plus million man — as the laugh could’ve been completely harmless in nature.
Impossible to say w/certainty what's being laughed at in this video w/out asking those involved. NYK didn't respond to request for comment. https://t.co/iG3KOVtyLt

But still, they’d be well within their rights to receive a chuckle.
I mean, come on. Look at this video. Melo is moving at 25 percent speed, once around the field. He starts off with a clean jog, then goes into a half-assed karaoke football-type drill and then does a straight-up back-pedal that wouldn’t even make Darrelle Revis’s grandmother blush.
What exactly is he showcasing here?
Why so many people are either so pro-Melo or anti-Melo is easy to understand. His name has far surpassed his true basketball value. He uses the social media game to act like he doesn’t allow the outside noise to bother him, yet he always gets caught up in petty childlike behavior on social media.
- Melo posting about Phil Jackson.
- Melo blasting SLAM magazine.
He contradicts himself far too often.
Listen, kids, if you watched this video, please, erase it from your memory. This is not how you work out. And if it’s simply a gear up or wind down from the real workout, don’t post such silliness.
Work your ass off while killing ’em quietly and then bury them on the court or field while showing them just how much you did bust your ass.
That’s the way you do it.
If you truly don’t allow outside noise to influence you, then there’s no reason to post things letting people believe the outside noise is actually getting to you.
I totally understand releasing and sharing something that you’re proud of. But, please, Melo, showcase something that’s actually impressive. You’re walking on a soccer field!
