New York Yankees left-fielder Brett Gardner made a leaping catch in the second inning of Saturday’s game to prevent the Cardinals from scoring.
In the second inning against the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees left-fielder Brett Gardner put his gold glove into use with a jumping catch which might have saved multiple runs from scoring.
With men on first and second with two outs, CC Sabathia served up a rocket to Randal Grichuk but Brett Gardner was able to run it down and leap into the air to make the spectacular catch.
Looking back at the replay, it does not even look like Gardner saw the ball as he jumped into the air, he just jumped and said a prayer that he would catch it.
If Yankee fans did not already notice, Gardner’s defense is nothing to mess around with, he was the recipient of the 2016 Gold Glove Award among American League left fielders.
Hopefully for the Yankees, this catch could keep CC Sabathia on track to keep his recent success going and keep New York’s hot streak alive.
