New York Mets ace Matt Harvey recently showed that MLB spring training is high on his list of priorities as he continues to rehab.

No single player on the New York Mets has the spotlight directed on him more than ace Matt Harvey. The big right hander is recovering from thoracic outlet syndrome which ended his 2016 rather prematurely. It seems that he’s feeling better, throwing off flat ground in a recent Instagram photo.

Expectations figure to be high for the 2017 New York Mets. For now, it seems that Harvey has his sights set firmly on spring training. Returning to October will have to be accomplished one small step at a time.

Injuries dominated the headlines for the Mets this past season, and Harvey’s health will be at the forefront of the team buzz next spring. After missing all of 2014 due to Tommy John surgery, a second major operation will raise doubts about the North Carolina products’s long term health.

Seeing Harvey throw off any sort of surface wearing the blue and orange is a sight that offers hope for fans just days after a heart-breaking end to 2016.

The countdown to the Spring of 2017 has certainly begun.
