New York Mets Fan With The Ultimate Hat Catch Fail (Video)

On Christian Yelich‘s 17th home run of the season, this New York Mets fan not only came up empty, he lost his hat in the process.

Talk about your classic adding insult to injury.

Well, perhaps not injury in this case. It’s more of an adding insult to insult type deal.

In the top of the 6th-inning of the New York Mets bout with the Miami Marlins, Christian Yelich showed impressive power by smacking his 17th home run of the season to the opposite field at Citi Field.

One Mets fan had a chance at a souvenir. Instead of going home with one, though, he lost his cap in the process. It was, indeed, the ultimate hat catch fail (video above).

It’s easy to see why it failed on him. It was a piss poor effort. The man tried to backhand the ball, while holding a beverage in his right hand, without a firm backhand arm position.

Bring those gloves to the game kiddos. For you adults, either switch beverage hands while the ball is in the air or bring your baseball mitt too.
