With the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays set to face off at 4:05 pm ET at Yankee Stadium, the Yankees made two roster moves evident through their released lineup card.
New York, as anticipated, activated slugger Alex Rodriguez from the 15-day disabled list. In correspondence, they sent Rob Refsnyder back to AAA Scranton. Refsnyder was 1-3 with 2 RBI in a brief stint in the bigs, but it certainly will not be his last.
In addition, the Yankees summoned left-hander Richard Bleier from the minors to add depth to a bullpen that is currently weak in the middle innings. The 29-year-old was 2-2 with a 2.57 ERA in six games (five starts) with Scranton before being called up. Chasen Shreve was not listed on the lineup card when it was released, and it was later confirmed that he will be placed on the disabled list for an undefined issue with his shoulder.
Shreve struggled mightily in a big role, pitching to a 5.21 ERA and surrendering seven home runs in 19 innings pitched.
Yankess will be making a pitching move. LHP Richard “No Relation to Rocky” Bleier called up from Scranton.
