Red Bulls fans arrived and then it got nasty. Feels like England in the 80s… pic.twitter.com/VJIKyDYlC3

Although the New York Red Bulls took a paddle to NYCFC on Saturday by the final of 7-0, the supporters of each team clashed beforehand.
It wasn’t just a blowout, it was a downright massacre.
Today, at Yankee Stadium, New York City FC was destroyed by their rivals on their own home turf. The New York Red Bulls took the paddle out to the tune of 7-0, equaling the largest margin of victory in MLS history.
Though the on-field competitive spirit was nonexistent, supporters from each match got into it during the pregame.
Check out the video above. Garry Hayes, who posted the video on his Twitter account, caught this evidence as both fanbases got together under River Avenue.
Via Dave Martinez of Empire of Soccer:
“This is just one of several tense encounters witnessed outside of Yankee Stadium today. A group of traveling Red Bull supporters were greeted by three NYCFC supporters hours before the match, forcing local security to separate each faction. Likewise, a group of Red Bull fans were taunted and pushed as they made their way towards the Third Rails’ bar, “The Dugout” on River ave. In a less violent occasion, NYCFC took to the streets to burn Red Bull gear in effigy.”
