Just like that, after some recent positive progress, the New York Red Bulls disappoint in a 2-0 loss to DC United at RFK.
- New York Red Bulls 0 (3-1-7)
- DC United 2 (3-4-4)
- MLS, Final, Box Score
- RFK Stadium, Washington D.C.
Despite facing their oldest and truest rivals in DC United, the New York Red Bulls couldn’t capitalize on recent momentum and fell harmlessly in defeat by the final of 2-0 at RFK Stadium on Friday night.
The national stage was all theirs, and after going undefeated over their last three matches, they came up with a flop.
DC hit the scoreboard both times in the first half. Alvaro Saborio struck at 20′ and Patrick Nyarko at 43′. Both goals came by way of poor defensive coverage by New York.
Argentine DP Gonzalo Veron made his return in this one for the Red Bulls.
Next up for NYRB will be the Chicago Fire at home in New Jersey on Wednesday, May 18.
