Steven Boldis, otherwise known as the New York Mets mascot, Mr. Met, his foolishly and laughably demanding a 2015 NL Championship ring.

By Jeremy Fialkow

He’s easily the greatest mascot in baseball, he’s got a stunning wife in Mrs. Met, and…he’s a bit needy?

According to the NY Daily News, longtime New York Mets mascot Steven Boldis is fuming about the organization’s decision to not bestow a National League Championship ring upon Mr. Met.

You’ve got to be kidding me.

Boldis manned the costume for 12 years. He could’ve worn that thing 24/7 for another 12 years and he wouldn’t be half-way to earning 110 diamonds, 42 sapphires, and the physical embodiment of a memory that will last forever: the 2015 Metropolitan season.

Not to mention, this guy bounced immediately after the end of last season. He’s not even employed by the team. He left to work for a construction company, which, is arguably better than wearing that smelly old costume all the time.

Actual former players like Daniel Murphy and Juan Uribe will get their bling because they deserve it.

You can’t blame him for wanting it, but Steven Boldis got a zing, rather than a ring, and rightfully so.
