Surprisingly stingy defense from the subpar Sacramento Kings leads to another New York Knicks loss.
- Sacramento Kings 88 (27-42)
- New York Knicks 80 (28-43)
- NBA, Final, Full Box Score
- Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
Without star Carmelo Anthony in the lineup, the Knickerbockers of New York dropped 15 games under .500 Sunday despite a 23 point, 20 rebound effort from Robin Lopez.
Lopez, the Knicks’ marquee free-agent signing in the summer of ’15, has been playing tip-top basketball of late, although, his team still fails to succeed.
Surprisingly, head coach Kurt Rambis gave rookie point guard Jerian Grant 20+ minutes in this game.
Unsurprisingly, Jerian Grant showed promise yet again in his 27 minutes played. He finished with 14 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals. The important takeaway here is the fact that Grant took 16 shots through the course of the game, staying aggressive and penetrating into the paint, just as his job entails.
Neophyte Kristaps Porzingis is still having consistency issues concerning his shooting, ending with 6 buckets made in 17 attempts. Let’s hope as he puts on more weight and core strength, he’ll put up better shooting numbers.
New York will battle, and likely lose, to the Chicago Bulls at the United Center on Wednesday. The game will be televised at 8:00 PM ET on ESPN.
