Andrea Pirlo and NYCFC will look to start 2-1-0 on the brand new MLS season as they’ll welcome in Orlando City SC to Yankee Stadium tonight.
- NYCFC (1-1-0)
- Orlando City SC (0-2-0)
- MLS, Today 7:00 PM ET, Full Preview
- Yankee Stadium, Bronx, NY
Should New York City FC win its next game, they’ll remain undefeated through its first three games of the brand-spanking new 2016 MLS season.
What’s interesting about the game between NYCFC and Orlando City SC at Yankee Stadium tonight is the fact that both squads are two of the league’s newest franchises, yet are both undefeated.
The biggest story heading into the match, from an NYCFC point of view, has to deal with head coach Patrick Vieira employing varying formations in the club’s last game.
Vieira employed a 3-2-2-3 formation (also described as a 3-4-3), which allowed NYCFC to control much of the 2-2 draw against Toronto FC last week, due to extra numbers in the center of the park. In front of the back three were Andrea Pirlo and Federico Bravo, who both served as holding midfielders.
The match gets underway at 7 PM ET tonight.
