In a back and forth battle all night, the New York Rangers were defeated by a final of 4-3 in overtime by the Los Angeles Kings.
- New York Rangers 3 (40-23-8)
- Los Angeles Kings 4 (43-22-5)

When the New York Rangers entered overtime and MSG Networks’ Sam Rosen told us that the Los Angeles Kings carried an NHL best overtime record of 12-5 into the extra period, many in Rangerstown were feeling the angst.
Then Keith Yandle cemented those feelings.
Yandle promptly sent a wild pass intended for Mats Zuccarello that turned into icing. Anze Kopitar won the ensuing face-off and followed that up by scoring his second consecutive goal of the game (one to tie it up, one to win it in overtime).
Of course, it was Yandle covering Kopitar in front of the net, not pushing him out of Henrik Lundqvist‘s field of vision.
J.T. Miller, Dan Boyle and Kevin Hayes were the three goal scorers for the Rangers, helping to build the lead to 3-1 in the third period. Yet again though, New York blew a third period lead.
Three times during the 2014 Stanley Cup Final did the Kings beat the Rangers in overtime, and now twice in two chances the Kings did the same during the regular season this year.
Next up for New York will be the Sharks in San Jose at 4 PM ET on Saturday.
