On a night in which the New York Islanders and Dallas Stars combined for 11 goals and 85 shots, Cal Clutterbuck was viciously boarded by Jason Demers in the second period.

Demers was tossed and handed a game misconduct and boarding major. He is expected to receive a five-game suspension, as he is a repeat offender and dished out an absurdly dangerous hit.

“I think the guy that got hit has a history of diving,” Stars head coach Lindy Ruff said. “I looked at the play. I don’t think he elbowed him. And he didn’t seem to be hurt, but he sold a pretty good one to us. Maybe he deserved a minor penalty. That’s my take on it.”
