On a wondrous day at Madison Square Garden for the New York Knicks, rookie prize Kristaps Porzingis gets the better of Jeff Teague on this meeting.

On a day for which football usually runs the city, it turned out to be the New York Knicks who came up with the biggest and most inspirational effort.

With the New York Jets once again reminding us of the “Same Old Jets” mantra, and the New York Giants doing their worst to send Tom Coughlin out the right way, it was Arron Afflalo and company who defeated the Atlanta Hawks 111-97 during a Madison Square Garden matinee.

Afflalo shot the lights out all afternoon, collecting 38 points in total; Carmelo Anthony was efficient all game long; and Kristaps Porzingis did his usually phenomenal job protecting the rim on the defensive end of the floor.

Check out this one example of KP’s defensive work as he rejected Hawks NBA All-Star point guard Jeff Teague as he looked to posterized the rookie (video above).

Props to Teague for actually going rough to the rim and jumping through the roof, but Porzingis was just too strong on this particular play.
