Just like that the 2015 Subway Series part 2 is tied up at a game apiece.
The New York Yankees rode a hot pitching hand to a 5-0 victory today against the Mets at Citi Field.
Starter Michael Pineda was strong throughout. He didn’t allow a single run and scattered just four hits through 5.1 innings pitched. The win is his 11th of the season.

Offense for the Bronx Bombers was supplied very early on. With two on and no out Carlos Beltran lifted a Noah Syndergaard pitch to the Pepsi Porch out in right field to give the Yanks an early 3-0 lead.

Syndergaard continued the Mets trend of shaky starting pitching. He could only muster six innings while yielding five runs and seven hits and striking out eight Yanks. It was the home run that did him in on this day.

The other two runs in the game came in the sixth-inning as catcher Brian McCann hit a two-run shot off Thor.

Though the Mets ended up with just one less hit (6) than the Yanks (7) on the day, there was never a consistent stream of offense. The Pinstriper’s bullpen did a fantastic job in relief of Pineda.
Six pitchers combined for 3.2 scoreless innings after Pineda’s exit. In fact, only Chris Martin’s two-hits allowed in the ninth-inning were the only two the Mets were able to muster off the Yanks pen.
With the Toronto Blue Jays and Washington Nationals just starting games of their own, the Yanks victory puts them four behind in the AL East at the moment while the Mets are now 7.5 up in the NL East.
The rubber-game can be seen on ESPN Sunday night as the standalone MLB featured contest.
