Both Ryan Fitzpatrick and Bryce Petty were impressive in the New York Jets 30-22 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night.

Although the New York Jets came away with the 30-22 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Friday night’s preseason Week 2 game, head coach Todd Bowles cannot be pleased. His first team defense was completely run over by the Falcons on the first drive and his special teams was a no-show.
By the time both teams each possessed the ball twice, the score was 14-0 Atlanta.
Devin Hester took the Jets second punt inside the 5-yard line, further depressing MetLife Stadium:

It was so bad that Bowles decided to leave both first-team units in until about midway through the second quarter. Still, the positives were apparent.

Both Ryan Fitzpatrick and Bryce Petty looked fantastic.
Fitzpatrick finished the game 13-for-19 with 118 yards and a converted 2-point conversion to Brandon Marshall.

Petty, who looked lost a week ago, went 12-for-19 with 168 yards and a touchdown. The rookie from Baylor was cool, clam and under control all game. He seemed like an entirely different person this week. His accuracy and reads while going through his progressions had Jets fans everywhere thinking big and impossible things.

Another bright spot was the first professional sack, and safety, from rookie USC product Leonard Williams. In the second quarter playing against Atlanta’s backups, Williams threw down T.J. Yates in the endzone.
First pro sack. First pro safety. Same time. Welcome to the NFL, @leonardwilliams. #ATLvsNYJ http://t.co/cHdt2VNJu3

The Jets have now split their first two preseason games and will gear up for the annual Snoopy Bowl against the New York Giants in Week 3.
